Education

Schools rank among the most important contributors to the quality of life in any community. These indicators provide information about important dimensions of educational services and citizens' perceptions of those services using the boundaries of school districts as reporting units. Although region contains 353 municipalities, its residents are served by 196 school districts. The district boundaries do not necessarily coincide with municipal boundaries. Unfulfilled Promise: The Dimensions and Characteristics of Philadelphia’s Dropout Crisis, 2000-2005

This report merges individual-level on young people from the Scholl District and the city’s social service agencies.  This allowed Project U-turn to follow cohorts of students over multiple years, examining their educational outcomes as well as predictors of graduation and dropout. Published by Project U-turn, 2006.
